Adding and Dropping Dependents to/from the Health and Dental Plans
Note: Dependent Social Security Numbers must be provided in order to submit the Benefits Enrollment Form.
During the annual Benefit Choice period, the Benefit Choice Options booklet is available online for employees outlining any changes that will occur to the health and dental insurance plans for the new plan year, July 1 through June 30. This may include changes to premiums, provisions, providers, participating plans, and level of benefits. Changes take effect the following July 1.
During this period, employees may add or drop dependents to/from any of the health and dental plans. Adding or dropping dependents may be done online* through NESSIE, by selecting the link at the top of the Benefits Choice page.
If you are dropping a dependent, the dependent must be dropped from both the health and dental plans. Dependents cannot be dropped from the health insurance but still remain on the dental insurance, and vice versa. If you want your dependents to have coverage, they must be covered on both health and dental insurance.
* Note: When adding a same-sex spouse, a paper Group Insurance Enrollment form must be submitted to your campus UPB Benefits Services office.
