Personal Assistance

University's Faculty/Staff Assistance Service
Employee Assistance Service is a confidential service that specializes in working with employees and their family members who are experiencing some type of personal problem(s) that may be affecting the employee's job performance. The assistance program is available to help clarify issues, identify resources and offer follow-up assistance as needed. This office also offers workshops and seminars on topics such as stress management and parenting.

State Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
This program is a confidential assessment and referral service that provides problem identification, counseling, and referral services for employees and their families. All EAP care managers are professional, licensed clinicians and experienced in providing support, understanding, and guidance for a broad range of needs.

Trained customer service representatives and EAP care managers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 866-659-3848.

Workshops/Seminars

Child Care Resource Service
The Child Care Resource Service offers workshops and training seminars for child care providers on child development and heath topics. Parents are welcome to attend these sessions for a small fee. Their office numbers are 217-333-3252 (Champaign County) and 800-325-5516 (Elsewhere).

Department of Community Health
The Department of Community Health has a monthly colloquia series on topical health issues. Their office number is 217-333-2307.

Counseling Center
The Paraprofessionals at the Counseling Center present a series of workshops called "Tuesday at 7" in Room 209 Illini Union. Topics include stress management, body image, and sexual orientation. While many of the topics are geared toward student issues, faculty and staff are welcome to attend. Their office number is 217-333-3704.

Information dedicated to Work-Life Issues

McKinley Health Center
McKinley Health Center provides information on their web site about work-life issues. Topics include health related topics, which are critical during different periods of the year, such as allergies, sun exposure, and alcohol use and abuse.

Office of Applied Psychological Services
The Office of Applied Psychological Services provides testing and therapy services to faculty and staff by advanced clinical graduate students supervised by licensed clinical psychologists. Testing includes assessment for adult learning disability, career development, and general evaluations for children and adults. Treatment for anxiety, depression, ADHD, marital or relationship difficulties, bulimia, and trauma exposure therapy is offered. Some specialized services, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Sport and Performance Psychology interventions, are also provided. A sliding fee scale is available; insurance is not accepted. Their office number is 312-996-2540.

Human Resources Employee Relations Section
Employee Relations counsels academic professionals, nonacademic staff, and supervisors campus-wide on a variety of work-related issues involving employee and departmental rights. Their office number is 312-355-3055.
