Effective Dates

Health, dental, and vision coverage changes are effective the later of:

  • The date the request for change was signed.
  • The date the event occurred.

Life insurance

  • The health certification approval date.

Flexible spending accounts

  • First day of the full pay period on or after the date the request for change was signed, whichever is later.
Note: There are exceptions to effective dates for newborns and adopted children. If the request for change was made within 60 days of birth, coverage may be retroactive to the date of birth or placement for adoption.
