Employees have free unlimited bus service on the Mass Transit District (MTD) buses. University of Illinois students, faculty, and staff may ride community bus routes at any time using their I-Card as a bus pass. Route and schedule information is available from the Mass Transit District web site.
Transportation on Campus
- A free shuttle bus, operated by the campus, provides transportation across campus. Several routes are available with posted schedules and hours of operation.
- Monthly tickets for a campus operated commuter bus with routes to the Northwestern and Union train stations can be purchased on campus at the Campus Information Center, first floor lobby of the Chicago Illini Union, or at room 701 Chicago Circle Center.
Transportation to Campus
- Public transportation to the University of Illinois at Chicago is available through the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). Monthly passes for the CTA may be purchased on campus at the Campus Information Center located in the first floor lobby of the Chicago Illini Union. Route and fare information are also on the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) web site.
- Employees traveling into campus can use the 495-mile Metra Commuter Rail System serving 230 stations in the counties of Cook, DuPage, Lake, Will, McHenry, and Kane.
The Springfield Mass Transit District operates a bus route Monday through Saturday from downtown Springfield to UIS and Lincoln Land Community College. In addition, UIS Student Services operates a nightly shuttle van from the campus to downtown Springfield on Monday through Thursday nights when classes are in session.
